Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle was een Engelse schrijver en dokter. Hij is beroemd geworden met Sherlock Holmes, maar schreef ook historische romans, science fiction, toneel en poëzie. Behalve in schrijven, was hij ook geïnteresseerd in sport, politiek activist, spritualiteit en architectuur. Hij overleed op 7 juli 1930.
